Saving accounts in the credit union are referred to as "share" accounts. A member must maintain a $5 share to be a member. Interest on the account (dividends) is paid monthly on the average daily balance. The minimum amount to earn dividends is $50. The dividend rate is declard monthly by the board of directors. Deposits can be made by cash, check, payroll deduction, or direct deposit. Members can withdraw by cash, check, or ATM. The first 4 ATM withdrawals each month are free. There is a .50 fee ATM withdrawals after that. Checking Accounts The credit union offers both personal and business checking accounts. These are called Share Draft Accounts. These is NO MINIMUM BALANCE, NO PER CHECK FEE, NO MONTHLY SERVICE FEE. You pay the actual cost of the check at the time they are received (usually about $12 for 150 to 180 check). ATM Cards Members with share draft accounts may apply for an ATM/Debit card. This can be used for withdrawals from either checking or savings at any NYCE or CIRRUS ATM machine. You cannot check your balance or do withdrawals through the ATM. There is a .50 charge for each ATM transaction in excess of 4 per month. The Bridgeport Fire Dept. VISA Debit Card If you currently have an ATM card, you need to sign up for the Visa debit card. Please contact the Credit Union for an application. Money Market The money market share account requires a minimum balance of $2500 and is limited to 3 withdrawals per month. These is a $10 fee for excess withdrawals and for being below the minimum balance. Usually the account pays a higher dividend than regular shares. Share Certificates Share Certificates are offered for a minimum of $1000. Terms are 3, 6, 12, 24, 36 or 60 months. Rates are set weekly and are based on the 6 month Treasury Bill. The rate is fixed for the term of the CD. There are interest penalties for early withdrawal. For current rates, click here. IRA Accounts IRA Accounts are available. IRAs offered include the Traditional, Roth, and Education IRA. IRAs can be in the 36 or 60 month CD. Remember, you have until April 15, 2007 to make your IRA deposit for 2006.
